We apply material handling engineering as a part of our automation, though there are some distinct examples of especially made equipments where product safety is the prime factor.
One of a such equipment is downender, made for KODAK Ltd.: This equipment is design to execute 90 degree tilting (from vertical to horizontal) of heavy film roll about 1 ton and transferring it to dark room for production on especially designed trolley.
As the external surface of the film roll required extreme care, no external clamping was a major challenge.
